Mexicali co-owner Kim reports from Nepal:
“We had such a great visit. After catching up and greeting everyone in the office, the sweet Nirmala cooked us all a tasty lunch as she does every day for the dZi staff. Just coming off of their week-long staff summit, they were full of excitement and energy for the year ahead and to expand their reach to even more remote villages. Having trekked out to the small village of Rok, Solukhumbu ourselves last year, we really “get” the inspiration that comes from being in those remote places where they are doing such amazing work.
After lunch they presented us with khatas, which are traditional ceremonial scarfs, thanking us for Mexicali’s support. We then watched a lovely video they made showing us the finished school and thank you messages from the children and community (stay tuned for a peek at that soon). It really warmed our hearts!
After the video, out came a special Mexicali cake! We ate up, and discussed our ideas for future Mexicali/dZi projects. With full bellies and and a room full of smiles, we said goodbye so that everyone could get back to work.
Such a wonderful organization filled with great people doing great things, we left with such warm hearts and feelings of inspiration!!
We are SO excited for what’s to come! YEE-HA!”
Over the past 2 years, YOU have helped us raise enough money to build TWO earthquake-proof schools for children in Nepal who lost so much to the devastating quakes of 2015. Working with the wonderful people of the dZi Foundation, we are grateful and honored to be contributing to such important work. Two schools is AMAZING, but we’re not done yet! We are so happy that we were fortunate enough to get a chance to meet up with our friends from dZi Foundation on our recent journey to Nepal, to reconnect in person and also collaborate on future plans! Stay tuned to see what’s next!
